THE BACK STORY
When I moved out to California I felt as though I was living on another planet and in a way I was. I was missing the Louisiana and Gulf Coast humidity. The doctor said I needed to return to Louisiana often to absorb the moisture. Back in California I turned my sunroom/den into a tropical hot house with multi-humidifiers and misters. Returning from one of my bi-monthly trips back home to New Orleans, I brought some purple queen plant cuttings from my mother’s garden district home because I could not find them for sale at any of the garden shots. Along the Gulf Coast these plants grow like weeds in the moisture right air and soil. I began growing them in my humidity room.
Once I began finding shady outdoor places for my plants and introducing them into a desert enviorment, spiders seemed to love draping their webs on this plant and after a man-made sprinkle or occational rain, I’d find myself in front of this plant with my camera.
I’d like to thank Om Navon Bleicher for personally inviting me to join this fun event which featured over 100 artists and their special small works of creativity.
