THE BACK STORY

THEME: THE 11TH ANIMAL ART

The little mamma chicken shown on the right stood about 12” tall with normal feather growing in all directions.  She was a Frizzle breed.  I called her Electra. She was so beautiful and sweet, I had to paint her in all her glory

Some hens want to be mamma’s more than others and the small breeds more than most, “going broody.”  When one goes broody, you either give her fertile eggs to incubate, go through a process to break the broody process or sneak young chicks under her while she sleeps.  I DO NOT EAT MY PETS’ just their eggs.  I do however paint them.

THE BACK STORY

TITLE: DAY OF THE CALIFORNIA CONDORS

For the 3rd time since painting this year, DAY OF THE CALIFORNIA CONDOR has been accepted into an exhibition and received an award. I HAD TO PAINT THAT PHOTO.  That’s how it happens for me.  I never paint from a photo unless I have permission from the owner of the photo.  I asked the publisher if he could get permission from photographer for me to paint from the photo.  Mr. Coyne said he  took the photo and I could paint from his image.
