THEME: Passage of Life - Ontario/Canada/online

THE BACK STORY:

TITLE: LIFE’S GRAND CANYON - DINÉ WOMAN

Painted in  1969’s when I had not idea how to blend colors, I began this painting thinking of the skin layers I noticed in Rembrandt paintings.  Then I started looking at my own hands.  In the layers the endoderm I could see so many colors. I’ve always loved this painting as it could be a woman or man. It could be a person from many different cultures. This face is universal and also captures a lifetime of hard living and harsh elements. My inventory number shows that this was my fourth painting and just before I moved to California.
